Warm and welcoming, the Hawaiian Islands are the perfect destination for LGBTQ travelers.  It's the ultimate spot for an unforgettable LGBTQ  honeymoon.  Spectacular scenery and breathtaking sunsets set the mood for romance.

If you're looking to hit the beach or some sites during the day, and indulge in some nightlife after, definitely base yourself  in the Waikiki section of Honolulu.  A stay here is more affordable than you might think do the the wide range of hotels here.

There's a lot of Hawaiian and American historical sites here.  Most prominent are Pearl Harbor and the Iolani Palace, home of the Hawaiian monarchy.

A very hot dining scene has evolved in hip Honolulu as of late. The food is  reflective of the confluence of cultures that call Hawaii home, with a dash of Cali or Asia tossed in.  Creative young chefs have opened restaurants  along side the established icons of Pacific cuisine. Even local restaurants serve up exciting combinations sure to tease your palate.

When the sun goes down, Honolulu can definitely hold its own in the gay nightlife department.  Waikiki is home to Hula's, one of Americas oldest gay bars.  Open at Noon, the breezy setting  affords great  views of Diamond Head and the beach.  Hula's also sponsors an LGBTQ catamaran sailing each Saturday afternoon.  A great way to meet fellow LGBTQ travelers.

Honolulu's  welcoming Aloha Bears social group also sponsor all sort of fun outdoor activities.  They also operate a monthly Bear Catamaran Cruise that books early.

Chinatown is a must visit for creative  dining and nightlife.  The travel site TripSavvy.com wrote and excellent article on Chinatown which you can read HERE.

If you can time your vacation accordingly, don't miss   First Fridays in  Chinatown.  It's a very popular street party that brings out the residents of Honolulu. Officially it that runs from 5 until 9 PM, though partying goes much longer in the local bars.

Come weekends you can find drag royalty at Scarlet's on Friday and Saturday nights  (SHOWTIMES HERE),  Also popular on weekends are gay club nights,  and lively LGBTQ pool parties at various hotels.  The definitive sources for everything LGBTQ in Honolulu  and gay pool party tickets is the GayIslandGuide.com ,

LGBTQ  Maui

Picture
While you will find many LGBTQ residents, you don't go to Maui for the nightlife.  Maui is the ideal destination for a gay honeymoon.  And its perfect for an intimate toes in the sand wedding for just the two of you.

Maui is divided into two parts, West Maui and South Maui.  In West Maui you'll find lot's of families vacationing during school holiday periods. The beachfront development of Kaanapali is home to many large resorts and self catering condominium complexes.  It is anchored by Whaler's Village, a large dining and shopping complex.  Just down the road is historic Lahina, which excludes a "Key West" vibe with its wooden houses.  The town is home to some very notable dining spots, charming smaller hotels, and plenty of shopping. Lahinia is a former whaling town,  was once the capital of Hawaii.

The vast majority of LGBTQ visitors head for South Maui and the towns of Kihei and luxurious Wailea.  Kihei is home to lot's of condo complexes in various levels of comfort and décor.

Further south is the exclusive Wailea resort area.   The verdant scenery and well tended gardens set the backdrop for some incredibly attractive Maui resorts.  The only resort just for adults in Hawaii can be found here.  Its the  peaceful  72 suite Hotel Wailea.  The enclave  is high up in a hill facing the Pacific ocean.  Also notable is the exquisite Andaz Maui at Wailea.  This gay friendly Maui resort features both hotel rooms and villas. Three cascading infinity pools face the ocean.  There's also a lagoon pool, as well as an adult's only tranquility pool.  The interior design of the public spaces breathtakingly modern.   The Andaz Maui at Wailea is very popular with LGBTQ travelers.

Further south still  is Maui's impressive and aptly named big beach.  Don't miss it.  On Sunday afternoon a rather eclectic crowd gathers on neighboring Little Beach.   Join them as they celebrate life on Maui.

For up to date info on everything LGBTQ on Maui, consult the the Facebook page of Aloha Maui Pride HERE.

LGBTQ   Kauai

Things start up early on Kauai, and businesses tend to close earlier evening  as well. Nightlife revolves around dinner out or  hotel bars, where travelers share their remarkable experiences of the day.

While you'll encounter LGBTQ brothers and sisters who have chosen to make this verdant island their home, the population here isn't that large. This smallness accounts for much of Kauai's charm.

You'll definitely want to get out and check out the jaw dropping scenery found only on Kauai.  It only a takes  short drive for the geographical variations unfold.  Trust me, you'll go on some magical rides.

Much of the island is inaccessible by road, so there are amazing sightseeing opportunities on a helicopter, plane, or by boat.  I  have great contacts at the best of them so call me at (215) 462-2222 or e-mail me at Paul@RainbowVoyages.com . I'll be happy to guide you to your options for an unforgettable LGBTQ honeymoon, vacation, or friends  getaway today.
